Sanctuary Decluttering - Terms and Conditions
Updated January 2025
Welcome to Sanctuary Decluttering Terms and Conditions (T’s and C’s)
I hope that working with Sanctuary Decluttering proves to be a transforming and positive experience. Please read the T’s and C’s which are the foundation of our working relationship.
Privacy and Confidentiality
Sanctuary Decluttering agrees to maintain the confidentiality of all information about the client gained from the decluttering service provided. All work carried out is completely confidential. Sanctuary Decluttering will never give your details to a third party without your permission.
Sanctuary Decluttering is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office and is a member of the Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers (APDO) and abides by their code of ethics. Client information, business or personal details will never be passed on to a third party.
Initial Consultation
A FREE 30 minute consultation is offered via phone, WhatsApp, Zoom or face to face where possible. This helps determine what type of decluttering service is required and the fees will be agreed here. There is no obligation to book a decluttering session at this consultation.
Decluttering Estimates
Sanctuary Decluttering will endeavour to estimate correctly the timescale for each job but this is dependent on the clients full co-operation throughout each session, unless agreed otherwise. Sanctuary Decluttering will endeavour to complete each job in the timescale estimated, where an estimate is provided.
Sanctuary Decluttering works 1 to 1 with each client during their decluttering session and the time taken to complete a job will depend on how able the client is to make decisions about each item to be decluttered. Essentially a decluttering job is only fully effective when the client is able to part with some or many of their items and make space.
Sanctuary Decluttering will not be held liable for the length of time a decluttering session takes where a clients full participation is involved. It is the clients responsibility to ensure that minimal distractions occur whilst a session is in progress. The client is responsible for payment of a decluttering session where it has exceeded an estimated time. Where a session is about to over run its estimated time, this will be discussed with the client at the time and can be stopped at the clients request. Where the client agrees to continue with the session, and where Sanctuary Decluttering is able to, it will continue.
Health and Safety
The client will tell Sanctuary Decluttering of any health and safety concerns that might affect the client of Sanctuary Decluttering during any scheduled decluttering session, prior to it commencing.
Travel
Travel from WD3 up to 15 miles each way is included in the cost. Additional milage over 15 miles is charged at £0.45 per mile. Sanctuary Decluttering will travel up to 1 hour each way and may agree to journeys over 1 hour in certain circumstances. This will be discussed and agreed at the initial consultation. Longer journeys are at the discretion of Sanctuary Decluttering.
Parking at your property
Parking for Sanctuary Decluttering’s car at or near your property is essential. It is the clients responsibility to ensure that parking is available on the day. Where parking is not available, you the client must cover the cost of any parking charges necessary and inform Sanctuary Decluttering of these at the initial consultation.
Decluttering/Organising Work
During the process of decluttering or organising the clients space, other tasks might be needed. Sanctuary Decluttering will assist with wiping surfaces/dusting where this is directly related to the decluttering job. Sanctuary Decluttering will not engage with any other cleaning jobs.
Working hours
The start time and an indication of the amount of time required to complete a decluttering session will be discussed at the initial consultation or booking confirmation. Where a decluttering session takes less time than estimated the client will not be charged. During a whole day session a short break will be taken by Sanctuary Decluttering for lunch. The client will only be charged for the hours worked.
Removal of client’s items
Sanctuary Decluttering will only remove items from the clients property that the client has given their permission for and consented to. It is the clients responsibility to make final decisions about which items are removed in the decluttering process. Sanctuary Decluttering can assist with removing some items, where room is available in their car but Sanctuary Decluttering will not be held liable for these items. If removal is required it will be discussed and agreed at the initial consultation. Sanctuary Decluttering will not be held liable for removed items, if the client then changes their mind.
Disposal of clients removed items
Sanctuary Decluttering will discuss with you the client, where you would prefer your removed belongings to go such as a preferred charity shop, local council recycling centre, textile recycling options, shoe donation bins, etc. This will be discussed at the initial consultation.
If no preferences are selected by you the client, then such items will be disposed of in the most environmentally friendly way possible utilising charity shops and recycling wherever possible and limiting the use of landfill wherever possible.
Only items that fit in the space available in Sanctuary Decluttering’s car will be removed at the end of a session. Any further items to be disposed of are the responsibility of the client. Sanctuary Decluttering will not be held liable where removal of items was not possible, for whatever reason. The client is responsible for all or any items disposed of in the decluttering process. A charge of £20 per load is charged for items that are removed by Sanctuary Decluttering.
Lifting of heavy items
Sanctuary Decluttering will not undertake lifting of any heavy items or furniture. Sanctuary Decluttering can arrange for a second person to assist for larger jobs at their discretion and this will be discussed and arranged at the initial consultation for an additional cost. Price on application.
Advice
It is the clients decision whether or not to accept any advice given by Sanctuary Decluttering. Sanctuary Decluttering will not accept any responsibility for the client’s actions, nor the consequences of the client’s decisions. Sanctuary Decluttering will not offer any valuations for items owned by the client.
Photos
Sanctuary Decluttering suggests before and after photos are taken to evidence the work undertaken. Sanctuary Decluttering will ensure that all photos taken do not identify the client in any way. Photos are never shown to a third party or made public in any way, unless permission is granted by the client first.
Insurance cover
Sanctuary Decluttering has full public liability and professional indemnity insurance. Utmost care will always be taken by Sanctuary Decluttering during each decluttering session but occasionally accidents occur. It is therefore the clients’ responsibility to ensure that their home insurance is up to date and sufficient to cover any potential breakages. Sanctuary Decluttering will not take responsibility for the damage or loss of any items.
Cancellations
It may be necessary for the client or Sanctuary Decluttering to cancel a scheduled session due to unforeseen circumstances. Cancellation by the client must be done at least 48 hours prior to the session by phone or text message and will not incur a charge. The full payment is due if the client cancels the scheduled session within 24 hours of the session commencing, unless cancelled due to an emergency.
Terms and conditions signed and returned
A copy of the Terms and Conditions (T’s and C’s) will be sent to you the client via email or posted and must be signed by you the client to show your agreement to these T's and C's. The signed T's and C's must then be sent back to Sanctuary Decluttering either electronically or via post. Upon receipt of the signed T’s and C’s a booking date will then be confirmed with you the client.
Booking a decluttering date
A decluttering date will only be confirmed once the signed T’s and C’s have been returned to Sanctuary Decluttering.
